On the road to Montgomery

Updated: Jul 13, 2019

Tuesday, July 30, Kelly members will caravan to the RSA Tower to view the art gallery, lunch, and then go to see the Kelly Fitzpatrick scrapbook in the archives.

RSA Tower by LJ Christensen.

Attendees are asked to meet at the Wetumpka Civic Center parking lot at 8:45 a.m. to gather in a few cars to visit the Georgine Clarke Gallery of the Alabama State Council on the Arts (ASCA), located in the RSA Tower in Montgomery.

ASCA is featuring the work of the late Professor Gay Burke and the students she inspired during her four decades at the University of Alabama. As a photographer and art professor, Burke was the first female professor in the Department of Art and Art History. Her works are in collections of museums like the Birmingham Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

After the exhibit, a Dutch treat lunch is offered at the Capital City Club on the top floor of the RSA Tower. Dessert will be served in the Hale Parlor at the Alabama Department of Archives and History, where there Kelly Fitzpatrick scrapbook, compiled and decorated with his drawings, will be out for viewing.

RSVP to Cookie Knott (334) 531-6930 cknott@elmore.rr.com so that you don't get left behind.
