Reaching out to a wider age range, Tuesday With Kelly will explain the on-going youth activities of The Kelly. Besides "Linger Longer" and "Camp Kelly," there is also an annual $1000 scholarship awarded to a student who plans to study an art-related major in college. The Sylvia McConnell Memorial Scholarship is named for a very dear founding member who remains with us in spirit and through her extended family. Your direct donation to this cause would be happily accepted. We have a separate banking account just to endow this scholarship.
This year Ataleesa McNally, a very impressive candidate with a 4.0 as well as talent in art, was chosen for this scholarship, which she will be using as she attends Berea College for art and theater. She was actually banned from doing art at home for many years, but was able to take it up after moving to Wetumpka and has forged ahead ever since.
Bring a sandwich, but a beverage and dessert will be provided. Add a little time to find parking in case Company Street is still under construction. Market Street and City Parking (gravel lot) near the Kelly are open, and don't forget that we'll be in the new location--124 Company Street.
