Yet again, President Belyn Richardson has been on the ball to apply for and receive a grant for The Kelly. The latest one is from the Covid Relief Fund for Nonprofits. While we can't exactly count our chickens yet, the eggs have been laid.
Belyn explains, "I have been told that our application has been approved, but money will not be distributed until all applications have been audited. The grant was for $15,000, no strings attached. This is a real blessing."
We might not have gotten the grant had Belyn not been waiting at the computer on the day to submit. She says she was the first one to submit, and it certainly paid off. She didn't want to risk their running out of money before we asked. Certainly, it's a huge enhancement to our budget for this lean year.
Another major grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts, Belyn has announced, is a matching $10,000 planning grant for renovating or building a new museum. This will definitely be put to good use!
This is so amazing and such an example of what can be accomplished by authentic and determined business integrity. It's not just talent that makes an Art Organization successful. It takes dedication, energy and spirit, too. This kind of money doesn't just fall into in one's lap! Thank you Belyn, and to everyone that worked to accomplish this. It's an honor to be part of this group.
