Confronting Covid Treasure Hunt

"Why don't we have a new Treasure Hunt relating to Covid 19?" asked Kelly Secretary Libby Christensen. "It could start with Isolation as a topic and end with (hopefully) Reunion." Curator Carol Hickman agreed that it was a great idea and ran with it.

Starting in May, The Kelly will be accepting up to three digital submissions per artist for each of the four categories scheduled in the coming months, one every other month. The first deals with the isolation everyone is experiencing, including the home schooling and working and various cancellations. The second, due in July, covers activities to keep busy, whether outside in a garden or inside watching TV. The third two months later is a salute to healing and the real medical heroes. Finally comes the reunion of family and friends. In all cases, we as a nation and as individuals are coping with the situation, and artists will have a special view they can share.

Carol explains on the prospectus: "You and your talents are among our greatest treasures, that’s why it’s called 'The Treasure Hunt'... Each Treasure Hunt will be a different subject matter linked to the virus. The work may range from realism to abstraction, and all media are welcome. Participating artists must be or become a member artist of The Kelly."
