During Covid, Kelly Board makes plans

They can keep us at home, but they can't keep us down! Coming as soon as possible, The Kelly has Tuesday With Kelly speakers, ideas for a Kelly celebration in the alley, ideas for workshops, possibility of a "pub crawl" downtown, and an online Treasure Hunt, besides plans for pop-up displays in banks and other public buildings in the local area.

On April 5, 2020, The Kelly Board met by Zoom. Tackling the technology, President Belyn Richardson and VP Linda Lewis set up the system and did a dry-run practice. Shortly after noon on the regular Board day, all of the officers and most of the other Board members were together on line or had called in, so business went on as necessary, if not as usual.

While some of the discussion revolved around face masks and general chitchat about the coronavirus, an amazing amount of business was handled. Belyn reported that The Kelly was NOT eligible for the small business grants. Though we have a mortgage and utilities to pay, we do not have any employees. So we will continue to look for other grants to help us at this time, also more sponsors and benefactors to help us stay afloat.

Other items for discussion included an iron gate between our facilities and the Chamber of Commerce office, new tables and chairs so that we can host Tuesday with Kelly and other meetings, postponement of our Jasmine Hill plans, membership drive, and possible plans for the summer. Curator Carol Hickman presented plans for an online Treasure Hunt to start in May.

While the immediate future is a bit fuzzy, the Board continues to focus on the positive and will spring into action when the time is right.
