Picnic at The NEW Kelly

Updated: Feb 15, 2020

Board members "working" to move into the NEW KELLY.

At 110 E. Bridge Street, The Kelly has now moved into part of the Chamber of Commerce complex in Wetumpka. Many of the Board members showed up last week to lift, carry, move and place a ton of paintings, furniture, paperwork, vases, plates, and napkins (lots of napkins), moving it all from storage to the new facilities.

As Secretary Libby Christensen couldn't help because of bad knees, she showed up with a surprise "Meals-on-Wheels" homemade picnic at noon, just when they badly needed a break. "I know how hard they've been working," she said, "and this was the least I could do."

Thanks are owed to Wayne Turner, Belyn Richardson, Carol Hickman, Mit Fontaine, and Barbara Bennett. Unfortunately, Linda Lewis had to leave just as lunch was served, but Phyllis Kennedy (former Board secretary) showed up to relieve her, which she admitted was "impeccable timing."

The moral of this story is that you should ALWAYS VOLUNTEER because you just might get fed!
