Kelly Vice President Linda Lewis has chaired a committee to review The Kelly Bylaws with a fine-toothed comb. For 5-6 weeks, she chaired and former Curator Hope Brannon led the review. They and other committee members Carol Hickman, Barbara Bennett, Libby Christensen, and Judy Ruffer discussed every word of every line, making a few needed changes.
"There were really no substantial changes," says Kelly Secretary Libby Christensen, who kept a copy of the changes as they were made, "but we corrected some grammar, reorganized a bit, and reworded for clarity."
Last month new Board Director Attorney Justin Edwards reviewed the Bylaws again to make sure they were legally correct. The Board plans to vote on the changes next month. Having a polished copy is one step of getting The Kelly's core documents in order, which are needed in order to apply for large grants.
