Which market? THIS one is the Main Street "Merchants Market." For the past several months, Wetumpka has come alive on the first Thursday with everything from fresh produce to art, music and even a few adult drinks. Outside The Kelly and The Chamber of Commerce, the Kelly artists and Don Sawyer's group, The Village Artists, set up their creative works. It's an open-air, sidewalk market in the evening from 5:30-8:30 p.m. (or perhaps just until dusk).
The shops and restaurants are open and buzzing. People in shorts are strolling along, laughing, chatting and just visiting. There are tables with Kelly artists, and other wares lined up in front of the stores on Main Street. If you go inside The Kelly, you are offered free water or wine. It's just a wonderful, relaxed Alabama neighborly gathering and definitely worth stopping by. October 1st will be the last one for the season, so visit with us if you can.
